Norwegian iConcierge App Reviews

93 add

Does anyone at Norwegian actually listen/read these reviews and ever take any action? I have tried to download it twice and each time it stays frozen at the title screen with nothing else. It may be a small part of the cruising experience but with personal communication devices being a key part of people's lives now, not having a simple app to do what it is supposed to in the area of allowing passengers to communicate with each other is absurd

Didnt show anything about the cruise

Dont bother downloading this app. I took a Norwegian Cruise and expected this to keep me informed about the ship and events. However, it showed nothing at all for the whole cruise. Just a picture of the ship that I was on (the Norwegian Jewel).

Useless

Dont bother with this app, totally useless. Needs major work!!! Tried to use on board and it didnt have enough information to be useful. These guys need to look at Princess to get some ideas.

Extremely useful app on your cruise!!!

When you go on your NCL cruise, this is THE app you must have. For a minimal fee (8,95$ for the entire week), you can text your cruise friend anytime you want. You can also check the money your spent on your room. Another cool thing with the app, you can reserve your restaurant and your shore excursion. Finally, you can call any room or ship service while your on the boat.

Dont buy the texting package!

The app is only ok. It is great for telling you whats happening daily, things to do at ports and your account balance and activity. But on board if you want to text others the ship charges 9.99. Problem is it rarely if ever works. Ship was great in removing charges and admitted its not reliable.

Waste of money

Was with a group, 20 of us paid to use the messaging. Constant disconnects. We would actually see each other in person to say "I sent you a text". Without that feature working there is no reason to have the app. Just another way to penny and dime the customers.

Could be improved

First of, its free to download but it isnt free to use onboard. It cost me and my son$9.99 each to use the app while cruising. It worked good when were connected to the NCL Jewels WiFi. There were several times that I was disconnected for whatever reason and was unable to connect with my son while we were on board. I like the Account Review feature and the detailed transactions that came with it. It provides the details on when your Sail card was charged or swiped. I would like to suggest something for "Whats going on today" feature. I think activities/events that have occurred shouldnt be shown depending on when the app was accessed by guests. It should also have an option of creating "My agenda" when a guest picks activities to do or shows to go to, itll make it easier for guests to find the details/location without having to scroll to the current time. Itll also help if all the numbers for the venues within the ship are listed on the contacts.

Unreliable and Unnecessary

I would not recommend this app if you dont need it badly. I traveled in a group of 6 (3 couples) and our cabins were separated. Phone calls and Texts only become available when your phone connects to Wifi, which RARELY happened. We could hardly ever contact each other, and had to use cabin phones, which are free to use. The Wifi was terribly unreliable. The app also claims to offer the daily schedule of events, but theres no description of what it is, just a name and a time. Its essentially useless to have this app. Dont waste your $12.99 on it.

Not Worth the Money

The texting and calling services were terrible. The app failed to notify me when I would get a text and only received phone calls properly a few times. I had to re-register with the app a few times loosing my contacts in the process. The event descriptions were entirely unhelpful as well. I would use the app if it were free, but it isnt worth any amount of money.

Needs work

Fairly basic things this app is missing: cruise itinerary including dock / all aboard times, restaurants and bar schedule, ship map, itemized transaction list in account overview, simple weather forecast for each port (temp high/low, precip chance, wind, etc). One day of our port activities was missing which was weird.

One star only because I cant rate it zero stars!

Terrible app. It obviously should not have been released yet. We couldnt use it to make calls off the ship even though we were told to use it for this by Norwegian. Making calls to shore is a feature of the app, it just doesnt work. You cant view reservations that you made with app. You cant view menus for the main dining rooms. This app shouldnt have made it past Norwegians quality control, but then again it is a reflection of the poor level of customer service offered on Norwegians cruise ships.

Ok, but not as good as Disneys

Forgive me, but having only sailed with Disney and NCL, Im going to be comparing NCLs iConcierge app to the Disney on-board app. Having access to the Freestyle daily is great, but Id like to be able to mark events as favorites so I can get reminders when one is about to start (the DCL app does this). Being able to review my on-board account was extremely helpful. Having to pay $9.99 ON EACH DEVICE to be able to do phone/messaging is a bit excessive. The features worked fine, but for a family of 3 this meant $30 to be able to call/text each other while on the ship. On Disney, messaging through the app is free. Being able to browse port excursions is a nice addition, but that area seemed to cause the app to freeze more often.

So far to go before it is a really useful app

The Good Stuff: On ship text messaging and phone Account balance is always up to date Needs Work: No ship map You can make your dining reservations but cannot see them and the times Does not list time open Cannot see what excursions you have booked $10 per device. Not worth $40 for the family ... Yet

Good app can use some improvement.

I purchased the app in order to be able to text with my son and it worked great throughout the entire ship. You do have to have app open in order to receive text which is the only thing I didnt care for, however I did find that if the app is closed and you call it will push the text through. The phone part of it was terrible but as long as the texting worked I didnt need the phone. As far as the other features it was good with some minor glitches. Not all activities were listed and one had the wrong location so we missed it but I cant blame the app for just the person putting in the info. It would be nice to be able to bookmark events.

Worthless

I down loaded the app before our cruise just like I was suppose to. I paid the $9.99 so my friend and I could communicate it never worked. It also didnt show what was going on as stated. A complete waste of time.

Baffled

It was an excellent source of protein but the amount of carbs was insane 1/5 will not play with again

It never worked...

After a 4 day cruise on Norwegian Sky, this app never worked for me. I tried while connected to the ships wifi, before and after I was logged in with my unlimited internet package, and closed/reopened the app several times. I never got past the "Connect to ships wifi" screen.

Worthless app

I downloaded this to use on a recent cruise on NCL, and it was essentially worthless. Not sure what the point of having it installed is, since it provides nearly no information.

Has potential, but needs some work

This had great functionality when I used it first two years ago, but it hasnt progressed much since. It constantly disconnects and connects from wifi on the ship, which is just annoying, but not a big deal. It would be great if it integrated my existing reservations for shows and dining into the app. Then take it a step further and allow me to add activities to the days activities, thereby creating my own list of activities for the day and get reminders before he activity starts. I would often see things I wanted to do, but would forget them, or they would get lost in a subsequent review of activities and I never did them. But if I could add it to MY days activities it would be helpful. Especially when Im weeding through activities for all types, including kids activities when I dont even have kids. Also, I would like to be able to view the deck plans of the ship that I am on, and even the whole fleet of ships with their itineraries. Might help get me interested in booking another cruise.

Not worth the effort or the $9.99 fee

The only thing that works is the messaging. The phone will not work at all. It may ring but nobody is there when you answer. You can find on board activities and bill info but you can get that on your tv. Good idea but needs lots of work. Tried to use it all last week on the Escape.
